Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about Self Storage
What is Self-Storage and How Does it Work?
CB Self storage has over 300 rooms, all of which are clean, dry, indoor and secure; they all come with options to provide really easy 24/7 access. Think of a big hotel for your furniture. Our sites are well-lit and friendly, safe environments.
What Size Unit Can I Rent?
We have little rooms the size of small shed up to large units the size of triple garages. The average size is around 100Sqft (10ftx10ft) but we are happy to help you decide which unit size is best for you. It’s often the hardest part.
How do I access my Storage Unit?
The unit you rent is secured with your Free 4 digit combination padlock, you can also access various areas onsite including the entrance using your own 6 digit code. If you wish someone else to access your unit you may give them your code.
Indoor Storage, Containers Storage, Climate Control storage etc. What's The Difference?
- Indoor storage – all of CB units are indoors, they are dry, secure, easy to access and safe. Perfect for furniture and soft goods. As well as archive or business units that require a damp, dust free environment. Some of our units even have power and wifi
- Container storage – Great for builders and drive up garage storage, they tend to get a little damp and cold as they are outside. They have very large heavy sturdy doors, for household items we would always recommend choosing indoor storage. They are a very good budget/basic option.
- Climate controlled – This is very rare in the UK, although some people require this for specific reasons such as wine storage, it’s not required for day to day storage of furniture. It’s more common in American states, for example, that have large climate fluctuations.
- Removals storage – this storage often offers no access, your units are loaded in a wooden box and fork lifted into a very large warehouse 4-5 boxes high. Access is limited
How Long Can I Rent a Unit?
Rent your unit for as long (or short) as you need! Our minimum storage period is 1 month but you get far better deal for longer term storage. If you are looking at yearly rental, give us a call as we can always talk you through the best options. Maybe even offer you a very good deal 01223853351.
Can I Rent a Unit Over The Phone or Online?
You may reserve a storage unit over the phone or online, but the best way to complete the rental agreement is online.
Are My Items Insured While Being Storage At Your Facility?
Insurance for your items is a requirement when you move in, we offer a very good policy that you can opt into or alternatively you can provide your own.
Please note: if you have homeowner’s insurance, your property may be covered.
What Forms of Payment do You Accept?
We use Stripe for automatic billing, for commercial customers you may pay quarterly via BACs.
Can I Pay Cash?
No, you can only pay online!
When is my Payment Due?
Everyone’s due date is different. Your due date is the same day of the month you moved in. So if you moved in on the 15th of the month, your next bill will be due on the 15th of the following month.

Price Match Promise
Any competitor quote should be presented to us in writing via email. We will always try and beat the price.
As a general rule of thumb, Any competitor quote must be from a competitor located within 5 miles of our store and offering a similar type of storage service.
Quotes from non self storage services such as shipping containers will not usually be accepted under our Price Match. However, please check.
Our Price Match cannot to be used in conjunction with any other promotion or offer.
If we run out of space, what options do we have?
If you run out of space, you can either transfer your goods into a larger unit, or you can take a second storage unit out under your name.
Is the site secure?
We do everything we can to make sure that your goods are as safe as they would be if they were in your home. We have monitored 24hour video surveillance throughout our site. We have invested in a pretty clever bit of kit that has the added benefit of AI, it will alert us if there is anything unusual onsite, such as someone running or holding a bolt cropper. Self storage is traditionally very safe, but to make sure we also have alarms on exits and access control on every door.
